Currently in Michigan, there are nearly 200,000 kids under age 6 living in poverty, 50,000 Michigan babies born every year on Medicaid, 40,000 at-risk preschoolers unable to access quality early education because of budget cuts, and the 16,000 students who will drop out before graduating this spring. If you find any of these issues upsetting, join the Great Start Collaborative Sanilac in our efforts to improve the lives of our youngest residents, or contact your local legislator directly and tell them you expect their support for early childhood programs and services.
You know you want your 3 year old to start their education right, but you're worried about the cost. Great Start Sanilac can help! We offer preschool scholarships for tuition costs for qualifying families. Sanilac County families that are not participating in Head Start or Great Start Readiness Programs may apply and could receive between 20-50% of their child's tuition costs paid for. For more information or an application please contact Kim Hurlburt at (810)648-2200 ext 4109.
Are you a parent who is passionate about your child and preparing them for their future? Then we need YOU!
